The Honda distributor rotor typically features a rotating arm that is fitted inside the distributor cap. This functional arm is on top of the shaft and is insulated from the body of your automobile. The rotating arm has a metal part and this part contacts the central high voltage cable from the coil thru the spring-loaded carbon brush. This specific metal component has to pass the output contacts that connect via the high tension cables to the spark plug. A rotor is expected to spin all the time. With every spin, electrical current is created which jumps the small gaps which are produced between the arm and the contacts.
