Working in conjunction with the distributor in the ignition system of your Honda vehicle is the Honda distributor cap. While the distributor is the device in the ignition system that is tasked to effectively route the high voltage from the ignition coil to the spark plugs, the role of the distributor cap is to protect and cover the distributor and the internal rotor.
This specific ignition cap has one post for each cylinder and in points ignition systems, there is a central post for the coil voltage. Inside of the
distributor cap, you will find a terminal that corresponds to each post. Most of the time, the
Honda distributor cap that is available in the auto parts market is crafted using plastic material. Since this is crafted from plastic, the cap may come cheap. However, there are some drawbacks with the use of plastic caps. Plastic caps have a shorter lifespan because they are more vulnerable to the elements.
