Honda Brake Caliper
The Honda brake caliper may actually come in two distinct types - the floating caliper and the fixed caliper. These two types of calipers are designed individually and feature various roles for specific applications. There are other types of brake calipers that can be used in your Honda, but these two types are the most popular. The single piston floating caliper is the most common and the least costly to manufacture and to service, so the use of this type of caliper is widespread. The floating caliper moves in track in its support so that it can center itself over the rotor. When brake pressure is applied, the hydraulic fluid will move in opposite directions. It will then force the piston against the inner pad which in turn pushes against the rotor. The caliper is also pushed in the opposite direction against the outer pad, pressing against the other side of the rotor.

The fixed type of
brake caliper, on the other hand, is mounted rigidly to the support and is not allowed to move as opposed to the ‘floating’ type. There will be two pistons on each side that press the pads against the rotor. This type of
brake caliper is considered as more efficient but the problem with this is that this is too expensive to manufacture. The use of the fixed caliper is often reserved for race cars and other high performing automobiles.
A brake caliper, whether it’s the fixed or the floating one, should be rebuilt and replaced when the part starts to show signs of leaking brake fluid. For a better quality Honda brake caliper, make it a point to get the part here in our site.
